Terrapin Bistro in Rhinebeck is a great place to go for nice casual dining. It's relatively inexpensive for the quality of the food and the dining experience. The super high ceiling provides a great atmosphere. If room is crowded, we often just grab a spot at the bar and have a glass of wine and a burger. The menu has a broad range of selections, from tapas to full entrees. And the burgers(veggie or not) are created from top to bottom, bread choices from soft brioche to ciabatta, cheese, toppings, etc just to your liking.

quick bite for two at the bistro

pot stickers were just ok and they give 5 instead of 6, should be an even amount for the price. garlic soup excellent, arugula salad good, fish and chip portion too small for the price.

Catering for an afternoon outdoor party of around 40 people

We hired Terrapin Restaurant/Bistro to cater a party at our house for about 40 people. We worked with Jessica to plan the event and menu. She was very professional and responsive and provided us with many good suggestions about what might work and what might not. The actual event went very smoothly. The food was just right for the event (grilled vegetables on ciabatta, roast turkey wraps, salad, brownies for dessert). The staff did a great job. In fact, Danielle did such a great job as bartender that I would ask for her again by name. Several guests went out of their way to say how great she was, very attentive, proactive and made each drink just how the person wanted it. I would definitly recommend Terrapin catering, great food and service at a very reasonable price.

The Bar Lounge

Yes
I haven't sat down for dinner in the busier and more upscale dining area, but I do ocasionally hit the bar lounge and have a nice burger - which can be either vegetarian or meat - and a tall Paulaner beer. I recommend opting in for the fries when ordering and leaving the lettuce for the rabbits. I visit with my girlfriend and we can usually get out of there for less than $30 bucks. The inside atmosphere is done well, the outside - well done!
