East Fishkill Provisions in Hopewell Junction offers the best in deli meats. They also have various german wursts and delicious smoked meats. They'll even do a pig roast for you. The Moustakis family runs it and another store on Rt 82 & Old Hopewell Rd in Hopewell Junction. You can take out or eat their sandwiches there.

If you are looking for an independent pharmacist in the Southern Dutchess area, Tuminaro is the place to go. Dominick Tuminaro and Jebb Pado run the store which as cards and other items as well.

Artists Palate on Main Street in Poughkeepsie is the best restaurant in the area. Run by Megan and Charlie Fells it has been written up very positively in all the local magazines and newspapers. It was reviewed in the Westchester Section of the NY Times on August 12th. The menu even changes every 2 weeks. We have been there for both lunch and dinner. If you go for lunch try the lobster Mac & Cheese. Delicious! If there were 6 stars, I would rank it 6 stars!
